Chasing The Light

Shot entirely with the Leica SL and the 50mm Summilux f/1.4 ASPH M-Mount with the Leica adaptor. I had brought my M10P to shoot as well but didn’t realize the battery was dead and the spare was back at the studio on the charger. The last shoot that I did with Katt, I had a very specific vision in mind and not only did the location that we had planned on shooting at fall through, but I my goal of shooting all natural light didn’t pan out either. This time, we decided to give it another go, but about 10 minutes after we started shooting the sun dipped behind the clouds and never came back out. We plan on shooting again in a couple weeks to hopefully get the shots that we had originally set out to get, but also to get some shots to finish up my review and comparison of the Leica 50mm Summilux M-mount and SL-Mount.

Leica Q2 Photoshoot

Prior to its launch this past Thursday, March 7th, I had the opportunity to test out the new Leica Q2 for a few weeks. Here is the first photoshoot that I brought it on, each photo below of the beautiful and talented Katt Wilkins was shot at 28mm f/1.7. This was the first of several shoots I shot with it, but also my favorite. Even though it was cold and raining, we shot for a little over an hour and I was able to get a real good feel for how the new Q handled and performed. The sun that you’ll see in some of the shots is simply the affect from using off-camera flash with MagMod grids and warming gels.

If you haven’t already seen it, there’s a lot more sample shots here in my “First Impressions” review - THE LEICA Q2.

WPPI - Red Rock Canyon Shoot

WPPI 2015

This past week was not only the most frustrating as far as travel is concerned, but the most exciting since I started taking photography seriously just 4 years ago. It ended up being completely different than I had expected, but in the best way possible. I made new friendships, strengthened others, and spent the week trying to wrap my head around just how blessed I am to be doing something I truly love now as a successful career. I made the most of my time in Vegas by meeting with company reps that I've gotten to know and even getting to do a little shooting in the Vegas desert with photographers that I truly admire. Thanks to everyone who made this past week as special as it was, looking forward even more now to this coming year.

Here is a few shots from that epic shoot in the Vegas desert. I had only brought my new Sony A7II and Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux lens on the trip, so that is what I shot all of these with. Quickly becoming one of my favorite combos...
