ISO320 Podcast - Casual Convo On Leica Gear

While Twisted Oaks Studio has been dedicated to successfully rescheduling each and every wedding to a date that works with them and their venue, I’ve been doing my best to stay as involved as I can with the photography industry. From doing a bunch of IG Live hangouts, online interviews, to a couple of much larger online conferences. Most recently, I joined Adam Lerner and Daniel Silbert on their ISO320 Podcast and I couldn’t have been more stoked to do so.

About a week prior to taking a much-needed road trip up North to Maine for 10 days, I joined the ISO320 Podcast guys for a very casual and honest convo on, wait for it…. camera gear. If you’re a photographer who’s interested in gear there’s really nothing quite like listening to three photographers talk shop about what they love and don’t love about the current gear selection currently on the market (Prior to the Canon R5/R6 and Sony A7SIII launch). This is your chance to basically be a fly on the wall, eavesdropping in on a gear convo between a few gear junkies. Your chance to hear what it is that we love about the gear we use, why we use it, and what it is that we love so much about our Leica gear. We also get into topics ranging from the state of the wedding industry, what our current gear line-up looks like, our opinions on the other gear currently on the market, and projects that we’re currently working on.

I hesitate to say this, but I haven’t listened to many podcasts and honestly couldn’t tell you what some of the other photography-related podcasts are. The first thing I did when I was invited onto the podcast was do a little research and listen to a bunch of similar podcasts prior to giving them an answer. After spending months talking about everything else but gear and spending several days putting a presentation together for the Capturing WOW global summit, talking shop with two other talented photographers about gear was more than a welcomed idea. After listening to a bunch of other podcasts and hearing Daniel and Adam’s podcast pitch about the three of us simply talking shop about gear I was sold. Especially, being that I personally didn’t know the two of them or all that much about their work and the gear that they shot with. This would be a legit and honest convo about gear, specifically Leica gear, or the first time between the three of us. How often do you get to listen in on one of those?

Now that it’s been a little more than a month since we recorded the podcast, I couldn’t be happier to have met these two guys who I now consider to be friends. I have no doubts that there will be more projects from the three of us down the road. Both of these guys are extremely talented photographers who I have a ton of respect for and also have a lot in common with. Plus, these guys live right in New York, so now they’re stuck with me.

If you’re looking for a new photography-related podcast I think you’ll really enjoy how Adam and Daniel run ISO320. It really is like you’re listening in on a convo between three photogs shooting the shit and talking shop. If you’re interested in hearing about the gear I use, how I was first introduced to Leica, my favorite lenses, to how the studio is holding up during the pandemic, you can click on either of the links below. We cover a good amount in this podcast.

I highly recommend going with the audio version for other reason besides the fact that it’s the first time that I’ve ever seen myself sporting a beard with no mustache. Sure, if you know me, you’ll no doubt get a good laugh out of it, a good ol’ chuckle, but I think it will be a distraction. It’s difficult to look at while trying to take everything that I’m talking about seriously. While this a look that some guys can pull off, I can tell you that I’m gonna be a lot more careful going forward about tossing that option out there as a wager for a bet that offers any chance of a loss for me. If you want to know what the bet was… leave a comment and I might share it, maybe. If you’re simply interested in hearing about gear and don’t give a rat’s ass about what I look like, click on either link and check out the ISO320 Podcast below!
